The MSU TTO has 2 goals. First is to license university technology to companies, to commercialize it. Second is to facilitate industry sponsored research with the university. These two activities are complementary and synergistic. We characterize ourselves as being the business development arm of the university research enterprise. The MSU TTO also serves as the internal expert on intellectual property (IP), reviews any contracts containing IP clauses, and generally administers IP-related policies at MSU.
